The Rights of Children Trump the Rights To Children
Posted by Jim Minnery · March 27, 2013 10:30 AM
“Denying children parents of both genders is an objective evil. Kids need and yearn for both.” Probably not a statement most people would attribute to a "progressive".
Actually, it was spoken by Douglas Manwaring, a co-founder of the National Capital Tea Party Patriots who also happens to be openly gay. As a father of two adopted sons, he once divorced his wife to pursue his homosexual desires and has since moved back in with his ex-wife to raise his kids after discovering over the course of a decade that “creating a family with another man is not completely equal to creating a family with a woman.”
Although Manwaring is a staunch believer in civil unions, he doesn’t mince words regarding marriage stating that “Genderless marriage is not marriage at all. It is something else entirely. Marriage is not an elastic term. It is immutable. It offers the very best for children and society.” Again, this is from an openly gay man who has decided the rights of children trump the emotional needs of adults. Click HERE for the article on Manwaring.
In Paris last week, nearly half a million French marched against proposed legislation that would legalize same-sex marriage in the country we liberated on the beaches of Normandy. Joining the pro-family conservatives were homosexual activists of a different stripe like Jean-Marc, a French mayor who claimed “The rights of children trump the right to children.” In a country that defines having a laissez faire attitude toward all things sexual, something is surfacing in their own LGBTQ community as gay marriage takes center stage.
Xavier Bongibault, an atheist homosexual, is another prominent spokesman against the bill. “In France, marriage is not designed to protect the love between two people. French marriage is specifically designed to provide children with families,” he said in an interview. “[T]he most serious study done so far...demonstrates quite clearly that a child has trouble being raised by gay parents.” Can you say Vive la France ? Click here for more.
As the U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments in cases that challenge the constitutionality of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California’s Proposition 8, its time to get up to speed on this defining issue. In no uncertain terms, this is the Roe v. Wade regarding marriage in our country.
Ultimately, we cannot forget or overlook that Government recognizes marriage because it benefits society in a way that no other relationship does. Moms and dads are both necessary for the optimal setting to raise a child and neither is replaceable by a generic “adult.” Marriage is society’s least restrictive means to ensure the well-being of children, while respecting everyone’s freedom to form their own relationships. It is based on the biological fact that reproduction depends on a man and a woman and the reality that children need a mother and a father. It predates government and is the fundamental building block of all human civilization.
The Supreme Court should resist demands to prematurely end the national debate over the future of marriage. The Court should not attempt to silence the debate, but should let it go on. The Court should respect the freedom of citizens to affirm the bedrock social institution that diverse cultures and faiths have honored throughout the history of Western Civilization.
Those who want to redefine marriage to include same-sex couples are excluding the norm of sexual complementarity. As they do that, other norms like monogamy, sexual exclusivity and permanency become optional as well. Is this really what we want as a culture for generations to come?
As Alaskans, we need to remember that we were the first state in the country to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman in our State Constitution. If the high Court rules against DOMA, that amendment is deemed meaningless. That 1998 amendment, by the way, has not prevented one gay or lesbian couple from forming a meaningful relationship. Advocates for redefining marriage should not be allowed to do an end run on the democratic process to accomplish their political objectives.
Back in France, 66 year-old Jean-Dominique Bunel, a specialist in humanitarian law who has done relief work in war-torn areas, told a local newspaper he “was raised by two women” and that he “suffered from the lack of a father, a daily presence, a character and a properly masculine example, some counterweight to the relationship of my mother to her lover. I was aware of it at a very early age. I lived that absence of a father, experienced it, as an amputation."
As our nation’s highest Court deliberates over the next two days and into their predicted decision sometime in June, may they realize that activists shouldn’t be allowed to convert marriage from an institution centered on the needs of children to an institution focused on the desires of adults.

Jesus Prays for Himself
March 26, 2013 in Inspirational, Prayer | Tags: Eternal life (Christianity), God's grace,God's love, God's promise, inpirational, Jesus Christ, prayer | Leave a comment
A few weeks back I shared with you, The True Lord’s Prayer: Jesus’ personal prayer for you. Within this prayer we get an intimate look at Jesus as He prays for Himself. I do pray that you are blessed by this intimate conversation between Christ and our Heavenly Father as I was.
Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come.
Glorify your Son so He can give glory back to You.
For You have given Him authority over everyone.
He gives eternal life to each one You have given Him.
And this is the way to have eternal life—to know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one You sent to earth.
I brought glory to You here on earth by completing the work You gave me to do.
Now, Father, bring Me into the glory we shared before the world began.
Celebrating Christ this Easter!

Bible Band Lesson (March 28, 2013)
Topic: The Only Way to Love is Through Jesus
Lesson Text: I John 5:1-12
Devotional Reading: Romans 6:1-2; Hebrews 12:5-11; St. John 20:30-31
Central Verse: I John 5:11, "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son."
Introduction:
Love is hard to define, but the way to love has been made clear to us. The world is starving for lack of true love. The Apostle John wanted everyone to have a clear understanding that the assurance of eternal life came only from following the Son of God.
I. Believe in Jesus (I John 5:1-5).
It is not easy to understand this concept, but we are called to trust in Jesus as the Son of God. It was a term that God Himself used of Jesus. It was God's way of showing us clearly the intimacy that exists in the relationship between the Father and His Son Jesus.
As Christian believers, we are called to believe in the Son of God in order to become God's children. We learn to love others in the body of Christ, the church when we truly love God, keep His commandments and obey Him from our hearts. This does not come naturally to us, but when we set our hearts in the right direction, God helps us with His power and gives us the victory we need.
II. Revealed Jesus (I John 5:6-10).
People of Jesus' time wondered at His miracles, but it was at the time of His baptism that He was truly publicly identified as the Son of God. He was revealed again at the Cross when He was publicly crucified and God acknowledged Him as His Son. The people standing around who watched Him die saw evidence that He was indeed God's Son.
III. Life in the Son (I John 5:11-12).
There is no life without Jesus, for He is the source of all life. John brings out this idea so clearly in his letter. Here is what God has clearly told us. We receive the gift of eternal life when we put our faith in Jesus as the Son of God. There is no other way to Heaven and life with God except through Jesus our Lord and what He has done for us on the Cross. When we have Jesus, we have true eternal life. However, when we reject Jesus, we can never have eternal life with Him.
Essential Thought:
The way to love is to first accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour of our lives.
Questions:
1. What does the phrase "born of God" (I John 5:1) mean?
2. How did Christ come by "water and blood (verse 6)?
3. What did John mean when he said that "life is in his Son" (verse 11)? What is eternal life?

Bible Band Lesson (March 21, 2013)
Topic: The Proof of Love
Lesson Text: I John 3:11-24
Lesson Text: I John 3:11-24
Devotional Reading: Mark 12:28-34; Deuteronomy 6:5; Leviticus 19:18
Central Verse: We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. KJV
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death. I John 3:14 NIV
Key Terms:
Hate (verses 13,15) – to be hated, detested.
Death (verse 14) – in the widest sense, death comprising all the miseries arising from sin, as well physical death as the loss of a life consecrated to God and blessed in him on earth, to be followed by wretchedness in hell.
Life (verses 14,15) – life real and genuine, a life active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed, in the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ, but after the resurrection to be consummated by new accessions (among them a more perfect body), and to last for ever.
Introduction:
Saints, do we know that we are truly Christians? The answer given to us is very simple in nature. We have learned to love others because of Jesus. The world is looking for genuine Christianity so that they can follow it, but that is hard to find. How much like a fresh breath of air it is when we find someone who loves unconditionally and who has learned to react to situations the way Jesus would. Love is the mark of those who say they are following Jesus.

Mother Quarles -Thoughts to Ponder
How big is your God? If you were to measure the integrity of your God, how
strong would He be? Is your God only as big as your calamity? Is your God
only big enough to cure your headache? Is your God only big enough to turn
your financial situation around? Does your God keep His word? Can you depend
on your God? Do you trust your God?
Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; He will come and save you. Isaiah 35:4
The God I serve is a strong tower. He is a living God; an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-hearing God. He is a faithful God. He has all authority everywhere. By His mere words the world is still doing what He said it would do.

By the touch of His hand hearts have turned from sin and
never returned. By His mere promise we see those things that are not as though they were, OH GOD! By the power that He has put in me, I can do all things and not be afraid what man can do unto me. Because of my God, I can pray for those who hate me, I can recover from a fall, I have peace of mind in a confused world, I am the head and not the tail, I am a lender not a borrower, I am above and not beneath, there is nothing that He will withhold from me as long as I be obedient, and the list goes on and on. Because my God is the
Great I Am.
"And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of allthe good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof."

The Script - Hall of Fame (Bible Series)
Was the Historical Samson Black?
As millions tuned in to the second part of the miniseries "The Bible" on The History Channel on Sunday night, some were intrigued by the casting choice for one of the characters.
"I do not think that it is important whether or not the person playing Samson in 'The Bible' mini-series is Caucasian or African. Indeed, the historical Moses most likely did not look like Charlton Heston, but that fact does not make 'The 10 Commandments' an ineffective movie. Likewise, I found the character of Samson in the mini-series 'The Bible' to be very successful in portraying Samson."

If Great Men Give Up
If Great Men Give Up
March 11, 2013 in Inspirational | Tags: inspirational, God, faith, vision, purpose, adversity, God's promise, motivational, Jesus Christ, HolySpirit, Wright Brothers, Jacob,Israel | 1 comment
I had a heartfelt talk with my son the other day. He said, “Mom when I decided to take some initiative and did my own research instead of using the info and links my teacher gave me, I failed the assignment.” He then asked, “What’s the point of even trying to do more or reach higher if I’m only going to fail in the end?”
I asked him what if all the great men and women in the world gave up after their first failed attempt. What if the Wright Brothers gave up after their first failed attempt at flying, then we wouldn’t have flight.
What if scientist gave up at their first failed attempt to create a cure for the world’s diseases?
What if Christ gave up after being, denied, betrayed and rejected, then there would be no hope in this world and hope is the fuel that drives us.
We need to take a page from Jacob, despite wrestling with God till dawn and being struck in his hip, he refused to let go, he had a spirit that said I will not let you go until you bless me and God blessed him and changed his name to Israel which means,(who prevails with God). Jacob refused to let go despite the fight, the setbacks, the pain and struggle (Genesis 32:22-28).
God has placed gifts, vision and greatness in all of us, we all have a purpose in life to fulfill and we can’t allow fear or failure to stop us “For God has not given us a spirit of fear (or defeat), but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”2Timothy 1:7. Could you imagine what the world would be like if great men and great women like you gave up? I imagine it would be a world not worth living in. I encourage you to keep pursuing your God-given dreams and passions. Don’t give up.
