A Blessed Weekend

I pray that you all had a safe and blessed weekend this Memorial Day weekend as we remembered our loved ones that sacrificed themselves for us. I thank God for the greatest sacrifice of all, His Son Jesus Christ. Thank you Father for the eternal freedom we have in YOU.
My weekend started with a Spirit-led class taught by an amazing woman of God, my sister Cassey, who spoke to us about self-care. She let us know that self-care begins  and ends with God and that His care is not limited to our spiritual well-being but our physical, mental and emotional well-being too. My plate is pretty full right now, if I’m lucky I may get 15-30 minutes just for me, not enough time for a spa appointment but just enough time to have a one on one chat with God. When I found that moment I asked God to show me what self-care looks like.
His word to me was WAIT and BE STILL.
Be Still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” Psalm 37:7
“I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in HIS word I put my hope.” Psalm 130:5 (NKJV)
How did I accomplish this? By simply enjoying the day that God blessed me with, knowing that He planned my day yesterday and that every step I took had already been given to me by Him. Most of all that He was with me through the good and bad, the highs and the lows and that He has my back.
Ask. Seek. Knock. - For everyone  who asks receive;the one who seeks finds; and to the one knocks, the door will be opened. Matt. 7:8
I simply asked God a question and what I received through the mouths of strangers was a showering of His word not just on me but over my whole family. His Word to me:
That every promise to me was a Yes!
That my latter days will be even better than my former days.
That I would be entering a season of laughter.
To be encouraged in our stand for God for God is with us.
To expect a fresh revelation from Him.
That the wisdom of God was already in my children and that they will be known as His.
This blog began with a desire to share what God has revealed to me and by the grace of God that was shown toward me I want to share my blessings with you, may it be multiplied to you.
A Prayer Just for You
To Our Mighty and Awesome God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Eph 3:20) May the grace and peace of Jesus Christ and all of  the blessings and  promises of God be greatly multiplied to You and your loved ones. May He reveal to you His Heart’s desire for you. You are saved, forgiven and made righteous by Him. You are God’s beloved and He has an awesome plan for you.  Open your heart and receive His Grace and Unconditional Love for you.
In Jesus name. Amen

In the beginning God the Creator of all creation planted a garden called Eden which He placed Man to live in. Picture a vast land lush and green, filled with fruit bearing trees and colorful vegetation, this was the farmer’s market of all farmers’ markets. Fresh water rivers glistening like a sparkling jewel across the land. There must have been so much to see and explore in a land filled with gold, onyx and aromatic resin. Every day must have felt like a safari with every animal ever created living in the same land. With the command of the Father to both Man and Animal to eat of the vegetation only, along with the dominion over the earth and all that dwell on it given to Man, that means there were no predators or prey… just God’s peace.
God placed Man in a finished work, a successful, established and thriving garden and He gave Man the CEO position to manage this work.  On top of that God told Adam and Eve that they were free to eat of any tree except for one. With all of Creation eating the same thing I would imagine that God’s garden would have an endless supply of food.
Scripture says this about Adam and Eve, Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.-Gen 2:25 NIV Now most of us, not all, would have a problem with walking around naked. I would definitely feel like “something” was missing in my life (lol!). This is a beautiful illustration of the Believer in Christ and what being a child of God looks like. Adam and Eve were in the presence of God, naked and unashamed, lacking nothing in the abundance of God.
Every time you turn to God in prayer it’s like being transported back to the Garden of Eden. Every time you open up your heart to Him you are stripping yourself of your own self-efforts and self-righteousness and allowing yourself to be clothed in Him, dependent on Him, provided for by Him, relying on His efforts and not your own to finish what HE started in you, to fulfill the vision and purpose for your life.
Your New Wardrobe
“For those God foreknew (that’s you!) He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son.”
“And those He predestined, He also called, those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.”-Rom 8:29 & 30
If you have a need or a great burden, God has you covered, if you need healing you are clothed in the Spirit of God that will quicken that mortal body of yours.  Because you've turned to God, confessed His Son and trusted Him with the contents of your heart, you are clothed in perfection, the image of His Son, adorned in His calling, beautifully dressed in His justification and glory. Free to live in His abundance, equipped to accomplish all things through Christ, living off of His Resume and not yours. You are loved and positioned for greatness. You are the best dressed… Naked and Unashamed.
 A Prayer for Today
Open your heart to God today, give Him the things you’re afraid to come to Him with, share with Him the YOU behind the mask, the “bare-naked” YOU. There is no shame or condemnation in God’s presence just an abundance of Love and Grace. In Jesus name. Amen.

Pastor Howard J Hornbuckle (Don't dig up the seeds God has planted in you)

 Listen to message

In order to be successful at any sport,it requires practice, patience and dedication. As believers this is also needed in order to grow in Christ. Pastor Hornbuckles message today entitled “Don't dig up the seeds God has planted in you“ explains how we an grow in Christ,in spite of the way things may appear or circumstances...

Matthew 13

American Standard Version (ASV)
13  On that day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
And there were gathered unto him great multitudes, so that he entered into a boat, and sat; and all the multitude stood on the beach.
And he spake to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went forth to sow;
and as he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured them:
and others fell upon the rocky places, where they had not much earth: and straightway they sprang up, because they had no deepness of earth:
and when the sun was risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

Jesus on: Temptation

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness He revealed to us the deceptive tools used to draw us into temptation.
Deception # 1 When you are at your weakest, get you to question who you are in Christ.
And when He (Jesus) had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.  Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” Matthew 4:2-3 NKJV
In Matthew Chapter 3 God declared this about His Son:
When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and aligning upon Him.  And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”Matthew 3:16-17
Note: how the tempter left out beloved and that God was well pleased with Him. This same trick was used in the Garden of Eden when the provisions of God were questioned. God told Man that he could freely eat from any tree in the garden except for the one tree that would bring forth death.  When questioned by the tempter Eve was asked, “Did God really say, ‘you must not eat from any tree in the garden?” –genesis 3:1
Same trick but the results are the same to get you to question the provisions of God  and the abundance you have in Him by pointing you to your lack and insufficiency’s.
Deception #2 Use your own desires to tempt you.
A desire is not limited to the lust of your flesh it can include your desires and plans from God. Have you ever had a vision from God and in your desire to see it fulfilled moved ahead of God to make it happen yourself.
“Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.  And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”  Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”Matthew 4:8-10
This was Jesus’ mission, to take back and save the world, this was His desire and it was used to tempt Him. But look at Jesus’ response to each temptation…the Word of God. Now for us the Word has become flesh and that flesh overcame temptation, death and every obstacle that we face in life andin Him we are more than conquerors. We’re not in this fight alone, we have Christ!
Here’s the thing God is not looking at you, your past and flaws, He’s looking at His perfect, spotless Son. God isn’t looking at your resume, He’s looking at His. His grace, His strength, His abilities and unfailing love. So when temptation comes  whatever the temptation may be,  remember who you  are in God’s eyes and who’s doing the good work through you. JESUS.
This is Who You Are
Children of God 1John 3:1
Righteousness of God in Christ 1 Cor. 1:30
Co-Heirs with Christ Rom. 8:16-17
This is His plan for You
To prosper you, give you hope and a great future. Jeremiah 29:11
To Represent Him Isaiah 61:3
To be His ministers/priests of the New Covenant. Isaiah 61:6
His Resume, Not Yours
Christ started it, He’ll finish it. Philippians 1:6
You’re not in this Alone
Nothing this world can throw at you will prosper.  Isaiah 54:17
Don’t be afraid, God’s got you! Joshua 1:5 & Isaiah 41:10

Five Reasons To Love Into Light

Lead Into Light: A call to pastors to talk faithfully and helpfully about same-sex attraction

LoveIntoLight_Bookcover.pngBy Peter Hubbard

The evangelical church in America struggles to speak clearly and compassionately to those who face SSA. Ministries like Harvest USA have been speaking a loving, biblical message for many years. However, they are generally behind the scenes in most churches. We need a consistent voice proclaiming holiness and help from the pulpit, not simply from para-church ministries. How many pastors have preached a sermon series on homosexuality – a series that not only faithfully taught what the Scriptures say about SSA, but humbly and skillfully cares for those in the church who battle with homosexual temptations?
This call may seem unnecessary or overwhelming. With all the issues our churches are facing, why this one? Why now? Why in the church?

Let me share five reasons:

1. Everyone else is talking about it.
Homosexuality is nightly featured in the news and celebrated in the sitcoms. Politicians cannot escape the gay marriage debate, and in many high schools, homosexuality is a vital part of the sex ed curriculum. Yet beyond a periodic slam on gay activists, most churches seem muted. Homosexuality may be the most controversial social issue in our nation today, yet churches in general tend to polarize between condemnation and commendation with very little thoughtful communication.

2. Confusion reigns.
One week a prominent news magazine announces the discovery of the “gay gene.” The next month researchers confess a more humble conclusion. “Homosexuality is a choice.” “You don’t choose to be gay.” “I was born this way.” “I am leaving the gay lifestyle.” In the psychiatric world, homosexuality has moved briskly from being viewed as iniquity, to an illness, to an identity. This relatively sudden surge from the bottom to the top has left many in our culture with the bends – a moral numbness, a vocal paralysis. What is true? How should we respond? We don’t know what to say.

3. Our brothers and sisters need our help.
A young woman recently sent me this email:
“I’ve been struggling with it [homosexuality] my entire life. For the longest time I denied it to myself and certainly did not want to come clean to anyone about it… It’s hard. It’s looked down upon so badly, which I guess is fair because it’s an unnatural thing, but it really stinks because I need help! I need people who will be behind me, supporting me with godly counsel so that I can make it out of this mess. I have only been a true believer for a little over a year now, so I am just beginning my walk with the Lord …. There is such a need in this area because people in the church don’t know how to deal with this issue. Homosexuality is just not talked about in the church, so it made me think that I was the only one struggling through this. This is a horrible place to be – thinking that you are the only one. Please help my brothers and sisters who may be struggling with the same things. . . .”

Imagine attending church year after year and never hearing hopeful, helpful words addressed toward your struggle. The sermons include application for those who battle with anger, fear, or marital conflicts. But your sin is different. Your sin fits into its own category, like the solitary confinement wing in a prison. We have a place for you… over there.

4. The gospel speaks clearly and compassionately.
He spoke plainly and moved toward the shadows in order to speak truth and grace to the margin-dwellers. Many people who struggle with SSA feel like they are the equivalent to the lepers of Jesus’ day. They feel ostracized and alone. Remember, Jesus embraced the lepers, but he also transformed them! The men and women in our churches who struggle with SSA are often lonely, plagued with self-loathing and tempted to give up and walk away. Does the gospel speak to them? Does the community of faith care about them? Do they have something to say to us? When I asked a lady in our church (who has been rescued by God from a lesbian relationship in her past) how people have responded when they heard her story, she explained, “Those I have told who have a rich view of grace and a personal understanding of their own sin are the most able to rejoice with me at what God has done. Those relationships have been unaffected or even enriched by my transparency.” Could it be that the way our churches respond to those who have/are struggling with SSA tests, manifests and matures the entire body’s understanding of the gospel?

5. The next generation is listening.
Younger Christians and older Christians tend to view homosexuality differently. If pastors and ministry leaders don’t speak a lighted, loving word regarding SSA, the next generation will be left confused (at best) or deceived (at worst). Each generation is becoming more accepting of a gay lifestyle and more uncertain whether the Bible has a clear word on sexual identity. Now is the time to talk.

As church leaders, we need to ask ourselves some tough questions.
  • Do we have a holistic theology of SSA (consistent with Scriptures, biology and experience)?
  • Do we move toward the gay community in love?
  • Have our churches featured testimonies of those who have been set free from homosexual bondage (or do we believe a different gospel than the Apostle Paul’s? 1 Corinthians 6:9)
  • Do our sermons periodically include application and illustration that give hope to those who face SSA?
  • Do our churches offer face-to-face help?
Pastors and church leaders, please consider preaching a series on homosexuality.  We want to help.  We have tried to map out a simple process to prepare your church to begin talking about homosexuality with faithful and helpful words.

58 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.
