March 7, 2013 Prayer & Bible Band Lesson


       TOPIC: Believers are known by their love
LESSON TEXT: I John 2:7-11, 15-17
       DEVOTIONAL READING: Matthew 8:12;
       Revelation 20:15; 21:8
CENTRAL VERSE: I John 2:10

INTRODUCTION: The true Christian is marked by love. However, we need to ask ourselves how are we different from the non-Christians around us? John provides us with insightful answers.

LESSON FOCUS:
- A New Commandment. I John 2:7-11
- Love Not the World. I John 2:15-17

ESSENTIAL THOUGHT: We can give without love, but we cannot love without giving.

Questions:

1.  Why was the commandment to love not new?
2.  What did John mean when he said we should not love the world?
3.  What are two scriptural illustrations of "the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life?"
