“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”-1 John 4:4 KJV
Within you, child of God is the Holy Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty, your complete freedom. So let’s meditate on this verse for just a bit. Greater is the Spirit of the Lord that resides in you than the sins of this world. Let’s use that name that is above all names (Philippians 2:10), greater is Jesus Christ that is inside of you than that sickness and lack that is of this world.
Greater is Jesus who is in you than your addictions, your pain, your guilt, your problems with your spouse, your children, that boss of yours who doesn't appreciate you, those co-workers who undermine you. Greater is He that loves and provides for you out of His riches and glory, than the job or the house you lost. Greater is Christ the true healer, than the disease you were just diagnosed with. Greater is Christ that placed that dream and vision for your life inside of you, than those doubts that keep you from moving forward. Greater is Christ in you…Who’s greater than your fear, greater than your battles.
For Christ took your sickness, He took your heartbreak, He took your guilt and shame, He took your addiction. Christ took your poverty, He took your lack, Christ who was rich became poor for your sake-2 Co 8:9. Christ took your stress, He took it all and He nailed it to the cross. He did it so that He can reside in you and fill your heart with joy, purpose, His peace, and a love that is beyond measure.
Sometimes we we lose sight of what Christ did for us. We are saved, we are forgiven, sin has no dominion over us, this world has no dominion over us! I have the seal of the King of Kings upon me, even when I lose my way, when I’m weak in my faith, I can still boldly step into throne of Grace. God says that in my weakness He wants me to come to Him Matthew 11:28. I should never think that I am too broken, or be too ashamed to pray to Him.
I may trip up in this world but I have a Savior dwelling inside of me that will keep me from stumbling. When the walls feel like they are closing in around you, when that problem you’re wrestling with overwhelms you. Let this verse play like a love song in your heart…
